Nikujaga (Braised Meat and Potatoes)
Ingredients:(4 servings)
200g beef sirloin, or boneless pork loin, thinly sliced. 3 potatoes (500g),
1/2 carrot (100g), 1 onion (200g), saya ingen (Chinese pea pods),
1 cup water (200cc), 2 Tbsp sugar, 3 Tbsp soy sauce, 3 Tbsp sake,
※ 1Tbsp=15cc, 1tsp=5cc, 1 cup=200cc=200ml

  1. instruction1Soak potatoes in water for 5 minutes and drain in a sieve. Parboil saya ingen (Chinese pea pods) and cut into 3 cm length.

  2. directionPut 1 cup water in a pan at first, then combine seasonings (sake, soy sauce, sugar).
    Add sliced meat (400g beef sirloin or boneless pork loin) with spreading.
    Finally, boil them.

  3. directionWhen boiling and scumming, skim foam. Add carrot, onion and potatoes, then cook.

  4. directionThe lid of a pan is shifted and it boils over medium heat for 15 minutes, covering with a drop lid. 

  5. When the ingredients are tender, put saya ingen in a pan. Soon, finish cooking.
