Nikujaga (Braised Meat and Potatoes) |

Ingredients:(4 servings) |

200g beef sirloin, or boneless pork loin, thinly sliced. 3 potatoes (500g),
1/2 carrot (100g), 1 onion (200g), saya ingen (Chinese pea pods),
1 cup water (200cc), 2 Tbsp sugar, 3 Tbsp soy sauce, 3 Tbsp sake,
※ 1Tbsp=15cc, 1tsp=5cc, 1 cup=200cc=200ml

- Soak potatoes in water for 5 minutes and drain in a sieve. Parboil saya ingen (Chinese pea pods) and cut into 3 cm length.
- Put 1 cup water in a pan at first, then combine seasonings (sake, soy sauce, sugar).
Add sliced meat (400g beef sirloin or boneless pork loin) with spreading.
Finally, boil them.
- When boiling and scumming, skim foam. Add carrot, onion and potatoes, then
cook.
- The lid of a pan is shifted and it boils over medium heat for 15 minutes,
covering with a drop lid.
- When the ingredients are tender, put saya ingen in a pan. Soon, finish cooking.
